Luxury is not a necessity to me, but beautiful and good things are.
This afternoon I passed a “farmers’ market” and all I saw was a bunch of vendor booths filled with merchandise that looked like it was mass produced overseas. No farmers. No fresh organic peaches. No pickup trucks filled with dirt covered potatoes. Sigh.

Ever wonder what would happen if you took a risk and drastically redirected your life toward something that really inspires and drives you? What’s more important to me - high pay or finding that life mission? Why don’t I drop this job, pack up, and go teach English in the Middle East or intern in Europe. Often I’ve been asking myself, “Couldn’t I be putting the gifts I’ve been given to better use?”
The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, said:
“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.
